Craig Calfee's first carbon frame was a replacement for a wrecked Schwinn, not a business plan. He built it after working on racing shells, Carbonframes showed at Interbike in 1989, and the Calfee name came later when carbon frame got too generic. The shop is in California, and Greg LeMond racing those bikes is the part everyone repeats.
