Lance Canfield started drawing bikes in Utah because the downhill bikes kept breaking under him. He and his brother Chris built the first one, the Big Fat Fatty Fat, in 1999, and Canfield was a Utah thing before people filed it under Colorado. They moved around later, Bellingham, then Fruita. Two brothers making downhill bikes is the start, not a Colorado factory that hired a name.
