Joe Tanaka was already racing triathlon in Japan when the usual road bikes felt wrong. He built his own, then turned that habit into CEEPO in Aichi. It was a Japanese triathlon brand first, and road and gravel only showed up after that reputation was already set. People still file it next to the American TT names. It started as one rider in Aichi who did not want to race on a road bike.
