Diamondback started as BMX, Western States putting a snake on kids' bikes, then mountain bikes when that wave hit. Later it sat under Pacific Cycle with the other American names that got sold. US shop-and-distributor brand, not a Colorado trail town, and road bikes were a later add once the catalog needed something with drop bars.
