Gitane

Marcel Brunelière was a smith in Machecoul before he was a bike maker. Workshop in 1925, parts first, and the Gitane name didn't go on a bicycle until 1930, so a lot of write-ups say 1925 and skip the gap. They became a French road brand, Anquetil and Hinault raced them, and Cycleurope owns the name now.
