Hope made hubs, then brakes, then basically every small metal part on a mountain bike, out of Barnoldswick, and they only made a whole bike after the component factory was already the reputation. Ian Weatherill and Simon Sharp were machining aerospace stuff first. People talk about Hope bikes like that's the company. It's a component factory that eventually welded a frame, and it's still Barnoldswick.
