OPEN is what Gerard Vroomen did after Cervélo, with Andy Kessler, in Basel in 2012. They showed a mountain bike first, then the gravel bikes took over what anyone wanted to talk about, and the UP is the one that stuck. Vroomen's name is still the short version of the story.
