Armand Peugeot built a high-wheeler in Beaulieu before the company will admit it had a bicycle factory. 1882 for that first bike, 1886 for the plant, and so a lot of write-ups say 1886 like that's the beginning. The family had been making tools and coffee mills for decades. They became a French road brand, and the lion on the badge never left.
