Dave Weiner started Priority because he could not recommend a bike that stayed quiet. Belt drive, US DTC, New York on the early paperwork. Shop-and-website brand, not a Dutch city workshop just because belts feel Dutch. Commuter bikes, and they keep saying low maintenance because that is why it exists.
