Univega was Ben Lawee's Swiss-sounding American import brand, and the name is invented. Japanese and later Taiwanese bikes for US shops, then the word got sold around with Nishiki and the rest. It is not a Swiss village. A distributor label, which is how a lot of the seventies and eighties got named.
