Merlin Metalworks in Cambridge is the titanium story a lot of later shops borrowed, and the brand itself has been sold more than once. Gwyn Jones started it in 1986 with Gary Helfrich and Mike Augspurger. Rob Vandermark left to found Seven. The name still means early American ti even when the factory address has wandered.
