Heinrich Rose opened a bike shop in Bocholt in 1907. That's a shop, not a factory, and the mail-order catalog is what turned it into Rose Bikes, years later, which people flatten into a German direct brand founded in 1907. The family still owns it, and they sell road and gravel and mountain bikes direct.
