Ventum started as a US triathlon brand, the kind that sells a funny-looking front end and a Kona dream. They assemble in Utah now, Heber City, and they sell DTC. The name is not an Italian vento. Road and gravel got added after the triathlon bikes, American and direct, aero-first, then the rest of the catalog.
