Jim Felt was welding triathlon frames in California before there was a Felt catalog. He started the brand in 1991, Answer distributed it, they fell out, and the company that people actually bought bikes from relaunched in 2001. So 1991 and 2001 are both true. Triathlon was first, then road, then the rest of the catalog.
