Jochim Aerts named the company after Ridley Scott, which is a film-director story Belgian cycling histories keep leaving out. He was painting other people's frames from 1990 and put Ridley on one in 1997, in Flanders. They bought Eddy Merckx later when that company was in trouble, and they make Belgian race bikes, plus gravel once that became a product line.
